In teaching hospitals plentiful operating rooms are set up more or less as theaters, next to areas where interns and students can view a procedure.
Many of these hospitals refer to all operating rooms as theaters and that`s why an O.R. nurse would be known as a theater nurse. I believe the gobbledygook is more common contained by Britain than it is in the U.S.
Because of hospitals that enjoy operating rooms with watch rooms or theatres.
Because the operations/operating room can also be called an operating the stage.
Surgical rooms are called operation theatres.
